  • Salaams,
I am looking for a west indian/caribbean restaurant that serves halal food in the area of Scarborough, for a Eid ul Fitr and birthday party next year.
Preferable buffet style for lunch. A clean, decent and classy restaurant please, not a cheap place. I appreciate your suggestions. Also they must accept American Express Credit Card.
    Thank you,
    Fazeela!

    Salam,
Is there any chance you can expand outside of the GTA. I wouldn’t mind helping provide information about halal places in Ottawa.

  • Hi There
This may be a far stretch but I was wondering if you had information on the best food joints both upscale and street food in New York. Im leaving for a 4 day trip there at the end of November and would like to hit up all the best halal joints possible near Manhattan. Were staying right in times square so if you could narrow down the top 10 places which are halal certified that would be greatly appreciated!!!! Jazaks!

  • What will the price of the halal foodie card be at the festival?

  • Hello,
I am looking for halal burgers at a good price. I plan many community BBQs and the halal option we have is those green wrapped hot dogs from Metro. It would be great to have burgers too, but they are just so costly. Can anyone suggest a good place to buy halal burgers at a reasonable price? Thank you. I am in Ottawa.

  • Saleem Ahmed on October 18, 2014

Can guys look for Popeye’s in Dixie and dundas I think they have halal option??

  • Salams,

My wife and i have been going to Sahebi Kabob when we are at the Markham and Steeles area and they remain the best place for afghan fare. The place might not look ritzy, but the food has always been great. The best items are the beef tikka kebob, chicken kofta and the spicy red tomato sauce to dip your naan. There has yet to be place that can compare to their quality and value. The use sargent farms meats for those inquiring about the source of the meat. Since, there is no review for them, I think it would be great if they were featured. Although, they may get overwhelmed with the additional traffic. It’s been a nice and quiet place.

    • Halal Foodie on December 15, 2015

Hi Niloufar – we don’t produce or sell turkey so I don’t have an answer for you. I’m sure if you request turkey from your local butcher shop they can help you source something.

Does anyone know why Black Ox Bistro closed??

  • Salam,

I would like to know the process you apply, when confirming that the meat served in the restaurant is slaughtered per Islamic Shariah?

I’ve noticed that your team does not have anyone who is experienced in the laws of Islamic principles of slaughtering or who has expertise in the field of Islamic jurisprudence, are relying on the verbal statement from these proprietors that the meat they purchase and serve is halal?
I look forward to your response.
    Sincerely,
    Maulana Abdul Samad

      Wa alykum salaam Moulana,

You are correct – we are not scholars and we don’t claim to offer certification of any kind. We ask restaurants for their sources and publish our findings online where it is an open forum. It’s up to the restaurant to provide accurate and true info and it’s up to consumers to verify and confirm our findings.

  • Salam,
I am hoping you can do a review of a new cafe that opened up at Brimley and Sheppard in the Scarborough Area. It’s called Cafe Black Gold and the the espresso and sandwiches are great. I’ve only had the chai latte and the roasted red pepper soup but I will be going back to try more!
