Delicious Food Show for Halal Foodies in Toronto

Delicious Food Show

There’s a delicious food show happening next weekend called Delicious Food Show and this year they’re bringing in a series of celebrity personalities like Martha Stewart, Chuck Hughes and Lynn Crawford to name a few. Add in dozens of cooking seminars and demonstrations during the three-day event plus hands-on classes where anyone is welcome to participate!

For those who eat halal, you know the drill, you want to participate at a mainstream event but you go out to eat somewhere else before or after because you KNOW all you’ll be able to have is maybe some fries or a falafel sandwich (if you’re lucky). That’s that’s the usual order of things that I’m quite honestly ok with because of the abundance of halal restaurants we have around us.

However, as I’m covering more and more mainstream events I am realizing that there are a growing number of vegan and vegetarian options that are also alcohol free. What that means for us is new and interesting foods that we can consume at the venue that are outside of your typical vegetarian options (i.e. fries and falafel sandwiches).

Delicious Food Show

Starting this Friday October 25, the Delicious Food Show will be at the Better Living Centre in Toronto and what a lineup they have! Besides a special book signing opportunity with Martha Stewart and cooking classes galore, they also have a plethora of exhibitors – and surprisingly A LOT of them are suitable for us! There are even a couple of halal options available, but since I haven’t had the opportunity to check out their meat sources, I will only comment on vegetarian/vegan options in this post. They will be high on my must see list at the show this weekend!

Here are just a few of the Delicious Food Show Exhibitors I’m most excited to visit:

Chilly Ribbons – If you had the pleasure of indulging (without the guilt) at the CNE this year, then you’ll know why I’m excited to see them again. All the flavour with fun toppings and none of the calories that are usually associated with frozen treats.

Cookin’ Greens – Move over Green Giant, these cookin’ greens mean business! They are a line of frozen vegetables that contain a powerhouse of nutrients essential for active individuals or people who want more out of their meals.

Natural Sins – Brought to us by Ely Products, Natural Sins is a line of thinly sliced and then baked fruit chips. They have varieties like mango, beetroot, apple and orange.

Green & Black’s Organic – they’re known as the leader in organic fair trade chocolates worldwide plus reasonably priced and excellent taste and quality.

The Pop Stand – I thought this was some sort of soda, but no — The Pop Stand specializes in gourmet ice pops! Exciting flavours like Mexican hot chocolate and cherry sour cream are on my list of must haves!

Pluck Tea – A Toronto based tea company that does their own custom blends in-house fresh, twice a week grabs my immediate attention being quite the tea fanatic myself.

JBars – Heath and fitness junkies rave about this all natural gluten-free protein snacks. Many of their products are vegan as well.

Other exciting show features are the Naturally Delicious Pavillion featuring one of my other CNE favourites, Wild Child’s Kitchen — Pamela of Wild Child’s Kitchen was recently featured on our site by giving us an intro to vegan cuisine. Another exciting feature at Delicious Food Show this year for families is Petite Chefs Academy for children where they will learn to make pumpkin shaped shortbread cookies and gluten-free veggie rice wraps plus their very own chef’s hat.
