Exciting News for the New Year from Halal Foodie

I always end off the year by thinking about all the crazy things that have happened. It’s a time for reflection and a great opportunity to hit the reset button. Even taking a few days off just before the New Year bell rings to completely recharge is a yearly tradition. This year however, things are a bit different. I’m looking forward instead of in reverse because 2016 is going to be a year of tremendous change, growth and carpe diem for our Halal Foodie and Halal Food Fest TO teams.

I go back to the first few weeks of starting Halal Foodie, thinking, I want people to value halal and recognize the tremendous opportunity for Canadian business. My life is completely wrapped in this industry, this word, recognized globally as a term of growth by all levels. When an opportunity knocks, our team answers and we take it as an chance to learn and grow.

Our next few endeavours are ambitious.

Showtime Bistro, Collaboration with Halal Food Fest TO and Chef Life Toronto

Showtime Bistro

Halal Food Fest TO, Chef’s Life Toronto team and I had the chance to take over a restaurant. We are going through the infancy stages of renovation, menu development, branding and promotion right now. We’ve taken this on as a learning experience — learning what it’s like to be a restaurateur 🙂

Join us for our Grand Opening Celebration of Showtime Bistro January 9-10, 2016!

Breaking Bread, Canada’s First Online Show Featuring Halal Restaurants

I started a new show with my good friend Sheba Siddiqui called Breaking Bread. It’s going to be a series which takes halal as a truly global platform and showcases it through a Canadian lens. Subscribe to our YouTube Channel for new episodes!

Halal Foodie Magazine Winter 2016

Halal Foodie Magazine Winter 2016 is now available! First copies are available at RIS, and then at restaurants and retailers across the GTA, plus parts of Ontario, BC, Alberta and Quebec. I hope you enjoy our fifth issue — our third winter publication. The cold months are a special time in Canada, winter is undoubtedly the longest season. So we dedicate our winter content to enjoying every moment!

Here we Grow…

And just when I think it ends there, my family is also growing and changing alhamdulillah with a new addition coming early 2016 inshaAllah.

There are no guarantees or promises in life, so I’m grateful for every blessing, every opportunity and every friend I meet along the way.

Huge thank you to the Halal Foodie and Halal Food Fest teams for always supporting this crazy girl’s craziness :p
