Plans for Paramount at Pearson Airport
Choosing between a window or aisle seat won’t be your only dilemma next time you fly as plans for Paramount at Pearson Airport are set.
They don’t kid around. President and CEO Mohammed Fakih has stormed Southern Ontario with the expansion of Paramount Fine Foods which most recently opened a second Mississauga location making this their sixth restaurant in total to date — with no signs of slowing down.
Fakih is now apart of a much larger culinary expansion set to start this Summer 2014 with global restaurateur HMSHost and Greater Toronto Airports Authority who operate Pearson Airport. Together, they present Paramount, featuring the freshest Ontario barbeque grilled halal meats, and favourites such as shawarma, freshly baked pita bread, hummus, sandwiches and pizza, among additional Middle Eastern dishes.
While Paramount is the only halal option currently confirmed within the larger project, they will be featured at two locations within the airport. One in Terminal 1 before security screening gates and the second in Terminal 3 after passengers clear security and make their way to their departure gate.
Aside from offering more ethnic alternatives to airport dining, they’re also bringing in a plethora of celebrity chef inspired restaurants to the full mix. Names such as Lynn Crawford, Susur Lee and Roger Mooking, among additional award-winning chefs, will transform Toronto Pearson’s Terminals 1 and 3 into a foodie hot spot, with the opening of more than a dozen new dining locations.
Adding halal options to an airport that is situated in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world is not only smart it will give travelers even more culinary experiences that reflect the exciting, diverse dining the city has to offer.
“Together with our long-time partner HMSHost, we will deliver an exciting range of restaurants featuring ethnic cuisine, comfort food and halal options that are sure to delight our passengers. With completion of this project in 2015, Toronto Pearson will have an extensive collection of dining experiences with the greatest number of chef-inspired restaurants of any airport worldwide.” said Janine Gervais, Associate Director Retail and Food Programs with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority.
