The Ladypreneur Network is so pleased to have the opportunity to showcase some of our talented members and their creative and healthyRamadan recipes.
The Ladypreneur Network is a group of women in business in the GTA who network and support each other’s business ventures. What started as an online place to meet has turned into so much more with regular meet-ups, activities and events, including Sisters in Stilettos with more to come. With each other’s guidance and encouragement we are learning about creatively running our small businesses as well as building the confidence we need to succeed in our respective industries.
We asked Ladypreneurs to submit their favourite Ramadan recipes in one of the following four categories; Iftaar, Suhoor, Beverages & Desserts. The only requirement is that they must be healthy. Over the next 4 weeks we will be posting their recipes along with a feature on their businesses. Our first two selections for the Ladypreneur Ramadan Recipe Series are fun for the kids but even grown-ups can enjoy the flavours and health benefits of these two great recipes.
Baked Tandoori Chicken Fingers
Sehr Wyne of Sehr Wyne Designs has shared with us her Baked Tandoori Chicken Fingers. These are a favourite of her two kids (ages 5 & 7) for Iftaar. Sehr tells us the best part about this recipe.
I love this dish because it’s a combination of their heritage. Chicken fingers are Western and Tandoori spice is Eastern. In combination, it’s a world of flavours in a tiny strip! This recipe is so quick and simple that the parents can handle the meat cutting and kids can help measure and mix the spices. It’s a great healthy alternative to frozen chicken fingers with very little fat and a number of spices with health benefits.
Baked Tandoori Chicken Fingers
- 1/2 kg chicken breast cut into long strips
- 2 tbsp tandoori powder
- 2 tbsp chaat masala
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp piri piri clubhouse spice mix
- 1/2 tsp vegetable oil
- salt & pepper
- lemon juice
- chopped fresh coriander and mint for garnish
- Cut chicken breast into long strips like french fries, sprinkle with salt and a squeeze of lemon and set aside.
- For the marinade, combine tandoori powder, chaat masala, cumin powder, piri piri spice and a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
- Mix chicken with the marinade until chicken is completely coated.
- Cook in the oven at 400 degrees F for 20-25 mins until cooked through.
- Sprinkle with coriander and mint before serving.

We all know that hydration is key while fasting. This delicious and healthy beverage recipe is sent to us by Asiya Baig, a food blogger from Chocolate & Chillies. Asiya tells us why her and her family love the Green Monster.
During Ramadan I always have a hard time getting in enough fruits and vegetables. This Green Monster is an excellent and easy way to get my fruits and vegetables. A big bonus is that my youngest also loves drinking Green Monsters! This is extremely easy to prepare and is a perfect drink for Iftar or Suhoor. It has fruits and lots of spinach. I usually use flaxseeds over the chia as the chia seeds make it become more gel-like. Hope you enjoy Green Monsters as much as we do!
- 3 cups organic baby spinach, packed
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt (I used 2%)
- 1/2 cup orange juice (I used the one with lots of pulp)
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp chia seeds or ground flaxseeds
In a blender combine all the above ingredients until pureed. Enjoy!
