Pull Apart Bread Featuring Breakfast Grill Chicken Strips from Mina Halal
You might have seen them at Halal Food Festival Toronto this past May 30-31 — Mina Halal launched their deli line featuring chicken bologna, hotdogs and YES – Breakfast Grill Chicken Strips (aka chicken bacon) is finally available! You can stock up at participating FreshCo locations in Ontario.
Pull apart bread is a busy persons best friend. Perfect for any sort of outing; a soccer game snack, picnic, potluck or just a quick treat at home. You don’t require utensils to serve, you don’t need to add any special packing to take it outside. If properly insulated, stays warm for 30 minutes to an hour — AND it’s quick to prepare and make.
I decided to try it out for the first time an hour before heading out to the boardwalk for a walk with my family. Breakfast was out-of-the-way but we would need a snack to carry us through to lunch. The results were perfect. After prepping and 35 minutes in the oven, I grabbed the baked bun minutes before heading out. About an hour later, peeling back the foil, I realized that the bun was still warm and the cheese was still melted and soft. The entire thing was devoured in less than 10 minutes between 4 people.
So how do you make this portable lifesaver?
Pull Apart Bread Featuring Mina Halal Breakfast Grill Chicken Strips
- 1 Bun Feeds 4 People
- 15 minutes Preparation
- 35 Minutes Cook Time
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup of ranch dressing
- 1/2 package of Mina Halal Breakfast Grill Chicken Strips, cooked and chopped
- 1/4 cup jalapeño peppers, chopped
- 1/4 cup green or red pepper, chopped
- 1 cup cheese, chopped (I used Ivanhoe Old Cheddar Cheese)
- Handful of coriander, chopped
Make 1 – 1.5 inch cuts in your loaf. Be careful not to cut completely through, leave an inch or more uncut.
Mix all ingredients together. You can alter proportions however you wish to suit your taste — this recipe is highly flexible!
Take 2 pieces of foil, each roughly double the length of your loaf. Arrange them as an X and place your bun in the centre. Fill each slot (more like stuff) with prepared mixture. Be careful not to tear the bread. If pieces accidentally come off, just place it back.
The bun should look messy. The messier the better!
Once stuffed as shown above, carefully pick up each side of foil and wrap tightly making sure the entire loaf is covered. Place the covered loaf in a preheated oven and bake at 350 degrees for 3o minutes. Pull back the foil and continue baking for 5 to 10 minutes or until the loaf is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
You can enjoy hot out of the oven or wrap it back up tightly and take it to go!
