Breakfast is Back with Newly Opened Sizzling Skillet in Scarborough

Sizzling Skillet in Scarborough

My family is big on breakfast – we used to frequent Sizzling Skillet in Scarborough almost weekly before it closed down. And boy, were we sad when we first heard that it was closing down. Really, really sad. Anyway, there’s really no point in crying over it (anymore) because it’s back! Sizzling Skillet is back – and dare we say it? It’s better and bigger than ever.

The new Sizzling Skillet in Scarborough is located where the old Empire Grill used to be – right next to Masjid Al Jannah on Ellesmere Road. It has more than double the seating space which is perfect for those busy weekend mornings. There’s booths, standalone tables and plenty of high chairs which means you can bring the entire clan for some grub any day of the week. And the best part? Sizzling Skillet offers breakfast until 5 PM every single day so you can sleep in. That’s right – have your cake and eat it too, friends!

Now – on to the food. It’s the same friendly chef (and owner) from before and the menu hasn’t changed at all. We recently went on a weekday to enjoy our breakfast without the hustle and bustle of the weekend crowd, and had a pleasant little breakfast date.

I wanted everything on the menu because I really love breakfast, but we settled on a dish each and something to share. My husband ordered the Chicken, Cheddar and Broccoli deluxe omelette ($9.25) with I went with the 3 Eggs and Beef Macon ($7.25). We decided to split the Toblerone Pancakes ($7.25), and ordered a tea ($1.95) and coffee ($1.95).

The fluffy Chicken, Cheddar and Broccoli deluxe omelette came with a side of toast and hash browns, and was just as good as we remembered it to be. We’re big fans of how the hash browns are cooked and seasoned; the sautéed peppers are also a good touch.

I’m not going to lie, I ordered the 3 Eggs and Beef Macon only because I knew my husband would frown upon me ordering a dish of just the beef macon. But the eggs (scrambled) were cooked well and complimented the macon (even though macon with more macon was my first choice…).

Toblerone Pancakes were not as fluffy as I would have liked (I’m a bit of a pancake snob) but the Toblerone was a welcomed addition to this breakfast staple.

I’ve already made plans to go back to Sizzling Skillet next week – the food is good, the servers are pleasant and I like seeing the chef cooking and moving about in the kitchen. I, for one, am really happy that the halal breakfast pioneer is back in business! Hash browns, anyone?

  • “Same friendly chef and owner” LOL, sorry but that is far from the the truth, the owner is rude and unprofessional, screws up orders constantly and will not take any feedback. I would not go here and would not recommend it to anyone.

  • This is my go to breakfast joint with my friends ! The chef is amazing and so friendly ! I am usually there early mornings where there aren’t that many people and the food quality and service is on point ! Anyone who complains about the quality or service, try coming earlier rather than during prime time. Obviously going at busier times makes it more hectic (anyone can understand things get a bit heated) !

    Love this joint !

  • I agree with Mo, the chef is very unprofessional and is arrogant.
