Maimana Naan & Kebab

279 Kingston Rd, E #7

  • Zabihah by Hand

A tribute to an ancient city in the country from which the restaurant takes after, Maimana Naan & Kebab provides a menu of traditional Afghani cuisine, with a few renditions of South-Asian and American classics.

Three months new, this clean, cozy family restaurant brings to Ajax what the east-end has been missing for some time; a solid halal Middle-Eastern venue. With traditional items like sultani kebab, shish kebab, chicken/beef tikka kebab and tandoori kebabs, Maimana’s has what you’d expect to find on an Afghan menu.

All kebab meals are accompanied with salad, fresh naan, and rice or fries. Generously spiced though modest in portion size, the charred meats give the food a pleasant aroma and taste. In addition, their burgers and wraps cater to those looking for a flavourful kick in a traditional sandwich.

Try their Boolani for a change! Similar to a stuffed paratha, it’s light, crispy and full of flavour. And with choices like house-made mango ice cream and ferni, you may even stay for dessert.

  • I have been there a couple of times and the food has always been pleasing to my taste buds. So far, I have tried the mixed grill, sultani and waziri…all dishes have been amazing.

Got ignored today said hello four times then the guy replied like he’s doing me a favour so we went to Lasani Grill in the same plaza. Why do Afghanis treat Pakistanis so bad? It’s ok I vote with my wallet and your loss. My family ate like royalty and were treated as such at La Sani. Mustafa

  • Been here several times. The dishes are very small and very unfriendly staff. Older men go here to look at the afghan sisters at the cash that look like are not happy to be working there. Not worth the time at all. La Sani across the plaza or south street burger both offer much better halal options.
