Istanbul Kebab House
Turkish food is comfort food to me. Toronto and the GTA have several places to indulge in and Istanbul Kebab House Mississauga is a great one to check out if you’re in the west end.
My trip to Istanbul Kebab House Mississauga was special because I went with two amazing ladies – Lindsay and Sudduf. The plan was to meet somewhere in Mississauga so I took to Instagram to ask the community for some recommendations.
On the outside, Istanbul Kebab House Mississauga looks small and maybe a little outdated — I wasn’t sure what to expect at that moment and was regretting not double checking that there was dine in space. But as soon as I walked in I was pleasantly surprised with the modern space with ample seating.
At almost 3pm on a weekend the place was getting packed so I definitely recommend making a reservation. Soon after we were seated, we went through the menu and selected what we wanted to eat.
Service was very friendly, but a little all over the place. We weren’t sure who our actual server was. We also had to request some obvious things like water for the table as well as bread for our dip.
To start, we shared a Dip Tray. There was lots of variety and it was very fresh. The bread (when it did come) was the best part – flavourful and fluffy!
Lindsay went for the Chicken Doner. The doner meat was juicy and hit the spot for her. The portions were decent for a late lunch.
Sudduf wanted to try the Adana Kebab, minced lamb skewers served with bulgar and salad. The skewers were juicy and fresh, but lacked the flavour expected.
For myself, I didn’t think twice about ordering Iskander! Iskander is by far my favourite Turkish dish because it’s filling, comforting and very difficult to get wrong.
Overall the food was fresh and on the average side of flavourful. The service was really friendly — lots of smiles all around — but I think things would have been smoother if we had one server who could take care of us instead of multiple.
